The Effelsberg Bonn HI-Survey (EBHIS) comprises information on the mass and dynamics of the local volume galaxies. Here,we present the „Local Volume HI Survey“ (LVHIS). It compiles single–dish HI spectral line observations of 132 galaxies and 14 groups north of δ(2000)>−5◦. Our sample represents galaxies with local standard of rest velocities v_lsr<600 km s−1 and distances D<20 Mpc. The LVHIS galaxy catalog includes moment zero maps, HI spectra and the essential parameters derived for each individual galaxy. Because of the very reliable bandpass–calibration of EBHIS, LVHIS offers HI masses limited mainly by distance uncertainties. The HI masses range between 10^4to 10^11M_⊙, exploring sub-dwarfs to grand spirals. Our primary goal is to provide reliable total flux values of local volume galaxies. Ideal to supplement radio–interferometric measurements affected by the zero–spacing issue. LVHIS products will be available online.
