10 Years of Gravitational-Wave Astronomy

Frank Ohme
AEI, Hannover

Almost exactly 10 years ago, a new type of astronomy was born with the first observation of gravitational waves from the merger of two black holes. Today, more than 300 observations later, a clearer picture of the properties of compact binaries in the Universe emerges. This picture includes little surprises and mysteries as well as far shining highlights. The latest among them is GW250114, a signal that was clearer than any others before, allowing test of general relativity and the black hole nature of unprecedented accuracy.
